Innocence

Innocence is a figurative realism oil painting that sits somewhere between landscape and quiet narrative. A child in a red garment sits at the edge of a tall green meadow with a pale lamb beside them, small against the wide, wild expanse. Soft, blurred brushwork dissolves the grasses into drifting veils of green, ochre and violet, while dark, richly textured foreground passages lead the eye toward the figure. The mood is tender and uncertain, capturing the idea of a child at rest, unaware of what lies out there and beyond. A natural fit for collectors of Philippine art, contemporary Filipino landscape painting and atmospheric figurative work, it has the scale to anchor a living room, bedroom or reading space, and pairs well with other pastoral, childhood and contemplative pieces.
