Filipino art, direct from the artists

A huge amount of genuinely good work by Filipino artists never reaches a collector who'd actually buy it — not because the work isn't good enough, but because the path from studio to buyer usually runs through a gallery, a consignment fee, and months of waiting. Meanwhile, most online marketplaces built for "art" are really built for prints — high-volume, low-friction, and largely indifferent to whether the thing you're buying is the one an artist's hand actually touched.

Obramaestra started in 2025 as a bet that both of those problems have the same fix: a marketplace that only carries originals, sells them directly from the artist, and protects the collector's payment well enough that "I've never held this piece and I'm buying it from a stranger online" stops being the scary part of the transaction.

We're still early — genuinely in beta, with a Founding 100 program for the first artists building the gallery with us. That's deliberate: it's easier to get the fundamentals right — escrow, fair commission, honest listings — with a hundred artists giving direct feedback than to scale a version we'd have to walk back later.
