Dreamscapes
Some paintings begin where the real world loosens its grip. In this collection, we gather surreal and fantastical works, from melting clocks to figures wrapped in flowers and flowing smoke, each one an invitation to step into someone else’s imagination.
Surreal and dreamlike art by Filipino artists
Some paintings show the world as it is. The ones in this collection show it as it feels in a dream. There are 13 works here, all by Filipino artists: women suspended underwater, a Dalí-inspired vision of melting clocks and long-legged elephants, sacred animal guardians, and figures that seem to float between earth and sky.
Carla Bauto Deña of Carmona, Cavite paints most of the underwater dreams in oil, among them Reverie and Sea of Dreams, along with Dream Caused by Dali. Lea Luminarias of Maribojoc, Bohol paints her Colossal Guardians series as a tribute to animals and the divine. Jorge Fuedan Jr. paints Lady of the Sea in pastel on a real British Admiralty navigation chart. Renjo of Pasig City contributes hand-painted re-creations of Gustav Klimt's The Kiss and Woman in Gold in acrylic with gold embellishments, and Waldz Villanueva's Celestial Harmony stretches 4 by 6 feet.
Sizes run from 12 by 16 inches to 4 by 6 feet, and the subjects suit a reading corner, a bedroom or a living room that could use something less literal. 13 are available now, from ₱3,000. Every piece is the single artwork the artist made by hand, sold directly by them.
